Director of Fundación Eduardo León Jimenes since 2009 and Centro León since 2014, institutions that promote the betterment of the quality of life of Dominicans through education, arts and culture and the respect of the environment. Fundación Eduardo León Jimenes holds Estación Raíces, a cultural radio station in the Dominican Republic.

She has led an active career in the field of education in the Dominican Republic, especially in the areas of Literature and Philosophy. She holds a Philosophy Doctorate degree (Ph. D.) in the field of Philosophy and Language from the Complutense University of Madrid (Spain), as well as a degree in School Administration and Groups Dynamics. Her background is in Education with a minor in Philosophy and Literature from Pedro Henríquez Ureña University (Dominican Republic); Maria Amalia is the co-founder of the Lux Mundi Educational Community, established in 1991, serving as academic director for 27 years.
Active member of the International Patronage Council of the Reina Sofía Museum Foundation (Spain) since 2016; an ex officio member of the National Commission of the Dominican Republic for the UN for Education, Science and Culture (CNDU). Besides, acting member of executive councils of important institutions in the Dominican Republic such as: the National Council of Culture since 2011, Symphony Foundation since 2012, Pedro Henríquez Ureña University Foundation (FUDPHU) since 2016, Friends of the National Theater Foundation since 2009, the Póveda Family Integration Center, Museo de las Atarazanas Reales (MAR), and founder member of the council of Friends of the Colonial City Foundation established in 2015 in Santo Domingo, D. R.

Her research and ongoing interest is focused on Education, Culture and Arts. Some of her highlight publications include “Saint-Domingue: philosophie pour enfants, une expérience pratique”, Revue International de Didactique de la Philosophie, Paris, France ; “When the Wind Speaks” (fiction for children, Tales from the Biosphere Reserve, 2009); “The Foundations, Voice of Solidarity”, on Human Rights at Its Origin: The Dominican Republic and Antón De Montesinos (Complutense University of Madrid, Spanish Cooperation, Quinta Dominica, 2011); “Genesis of a Miracle” (fiction for children, BHD Art Book collection, 2015) and “Artistic Integration Methodology: A practical Model (MIA for its Spanish translation), edition of her doctoral thesis with the Complutense University of Madrid, soon to be published.

For her, ideals and dreams are the engine that moves the world; her greatest satisfaction is being a pathway of others dreams, through arts and education.
